BROMO TRIP 2019 - Part 1

I didn't expect my first experience to Indonesia will be such an adventure one, yet very fun and interesting trip for this year. We're in a group of 5. Kakcik arranged the trip for us mostly. To make our trip at ease, we decided to get a supir for our trip so she found one in IG - INDONESIA DISCOVERER

WHY WE DECIDED TO CHOOSE INDONESIA DISCOVERER PACKAGE?

  • cheap
  • local experience - for sure
  • photographer included!
  • get the softcopy of photos captured of the day - for FREE!
  • breakfast included
  • hotel included
  • transportation included for sure
  • any request for souvenir places/lunch dinnner suggestion - can be fulfilled

Our supir name is Budi Tarjo, we just call him Mas Budi. He is so friendly and anytime we need something, he can right away guide us anywhere we want to go and all the itinerary that he suggested can be change follow your own desired or I could say, with this package, it is very FLEXIBLE. But I suggest, you contact him first before buy/book any flight ticket and hotel. Let him arranged for you which is better and easier for both party.

Soooooooo, let's start to our first day!

in flight photo is a must! xD

Surabaya airport is so small that we're done with everything and get out in less than 20 minutes. We took some time due to misunderstanding with one of the officer. So the first to go through immi is Wan, after few minutes the officer bring him to the quarantine room. The rest of us who are still queuing are confused what is happening actually.

Next is my turn, the officer asked me if I have the return ticket. I got panicked out of sudden. I have it, I know but which bag - I thought it was in the checked in bag so I told him, it's outside. He still asked for it. Then I remember, its in the bag that I currently hold on to. So, I took it outside and gave him. He told me about Wan - that he dont have the return ticket so I said I will give him his ticket to release Wan. But the officer told me to send it to the quarantine room. Once I'm done with him, I go to the quarantine room to pass the ticket. But he is not release right away, we were waiting for them to release Wan for around 5-10 minutes.

I feel so relieved that I print out all of the return flight ticket.

Next, Kakcik. The officer told her, "all of you are adults, why don't you keep the ticket to yourself?" kind of this-not-so-necessary-dialog. I was wondering if they will ask this question to all of those who are visiting Surabaya or is it just us? or to Malaysians?

No, weirdly, Adeq queued in different line but the other officer didn't even ask about return ticket just few questions like, 'when are you going back and with whom', that's it. So I don't get why this officer is too strict with the rest of us.

Once everything is settled, we go out and there, Mas Budi is waiting for us. He right away drive us to Kota Malang which took around 2 and half hours supposedly, but due to traffic jam we arrived quite late.

When we get into the van, Mas Budi prepared us a snack as if he know we're super hungry....it's one of the snack that is in my souvenir wishlist...

 The box..

This, the cut version, a piece of happiness.

Next, after arrived in Malang, Mas Budi stopped by at the small store beside the road to let us experience the food street, it says Tahu Semedang. First time I heard of it, it was lit!

People are queueing up....

I don't remember what is this but it was good too...best eaten with the chilies inside

This is what I'm talking about! Tahu Semedang in raga ftw.

The sauce is like nutty taste and a little sweet. You have to eat it together with the small chilies which is packed together. At first its kinda spicy but as you eat more, the chili is not that spicy but since the tofu is hot, you will feel the pain of hot and spicy combination xD The tofu is crunchy outside and very soft inside. Nyumnyum. Their chili is quite different from the one in Malaysia, I could say. Looks spicy but it's not that spicy, kind of addictive too.

Then we stopped by at a mosque to perform jamak prayer because its too late already. Not sure the name of this mosque but once I stepped in the wudu area, I fall in love, instantly. I recorded a video of this.

I gotta mute the video cause both me and kakcik were so jakun and
being quite loud which is very inappropriate...

What I love the most is because they designed a small pool kind of to clean our feet before going to the wudu place, like in the video. Also, they have small toilet in there, before stepping in the toilet, they design another small pool to clean our feet before stepping in/out from the toilet. I super love this one to the extend I feel like I need to submit a suggestion to install this to all mosques in Malaysia XD

Next, we go for dinner at Ayam Bakar Wong Solo in Malang near our hotel area...

The signboard, they have 2 storey if i'm not mistaken..
and they also have other branches.

Fancy Ayam Penyet in Malang

This one is Ayam Penyet, I pair it with Jus Alpukat in case the sambal is too spicy for me..and both are so delicious. The taste of sambal is different with the one in Malaysia, for sure. Spicy but just nice. The chicken size is too small, maybe because they're using the ayam kampung which always comes in smaller size but quality and taste wise is better.

After dinner, we straight away check in to hotel which is around 9PM..phew that was kinda tiring day for me. But no, more tiring things are coming up cause we need to start our next day at 1AM!

Till the next post since it's gonna be way tooooooo long.
